Amanda Briggs
Amanda Briggs, NIC; EIPA 4.0
Amanda Briggs is a nationally certified American Sign Language Interpreter through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) with a Bachelor’s degree in English Education and a Master’s in Teaching and Learning. She currently teaches American Sign Language at Colorado State University and interprets part-time. She previously taught an ASL high school program in Colorado, and continues to mentor young, aspiring interpreters, traveling to educate others on best practices for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students and teachers, clients, patients, employees, and colleagues.
Interpreting
Amanda is nationally certified and works as a Freelance ASL Interpreter for numerous agencies; however, you may also contract with her directly for half-day, full-day or conference rates.
Mentoring
Many students graduate from an Interpreter Training Program (ITP/IPP) yet feel ill-prepared for the unique challenges of the profession. One-on-one remote mentoring provides young interpreters the scaffolding and support they need in the field.
Seminars
Whether you are wondering how to create a more accessible classroom or how to better serve Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing patients in your emergency room, Amanda has numerous presentations geared to provide insight on best practices working with D/HH consumers in a tailored workshop that fits your needs.
